This Glen Ellyn kitchen remodel provides an example of how to modernize a traditional space and even won an award for the effort. Designers Gail Drury and Ginny Blasco were challenged to incorporate the existing oak flooring and casement windows into the design. To update the space, they provided contrast with Grabill custom cabinetry in Abby Brown.
The espresso color, used in the kitchen and adjacent wet bar, contrasts with high-gloss, soft green accent cabinets. Other focal points of the award-winning transitional kitchen design include a custom-designed hood, single-slab marble backsplash and pewter accents.
This kitchen won Grabill Cabinetry’s 2010 Home Collections Design Competition in the Transitional Category.
