Elevating Your Home with Art
A Guide to Styling Every Space
Art has the incredible power to transform any space and we believe that every nook and cranny of your home deserves a touch of elegance and creativity. That’s why we’re thrilled to invite you to our upcoming event, “Design, Wine, and Fine Art,” where we’ll immerse you in a space of artistic inspiration and interior styling. The event is a sneak peek of an upcoming Leonard Auctions event. We’re playing host for this sneak peek on Thursday October 8th from 5:30 PM to 8 PM. Leonard Auctions is bringing in several pieces from one of their upcoming fine arts auctions. It’s your chance to see these fantastic pieces up close and personal before they hit the auction block, while enjoying fine wine and nibbles. We’re excited to see how the experts from Leonard Auctions display the art within the various thematic design styles found in our showroom.
Pairing and placing art within a home is somewhat of an artform in and of itself. Here are some tips for integrating art into your home:
1. Living Room:
- Opt for a large statement piece or a curated gallery wall.
- Balance the color palette with your existing decor, and go for accent colors to complement the space.
- Tape out the sizing of the artwork on your wall to test the size in your space.
2. Dining Room:
- Consider a focal point art piece above the dining table.
- Match the style of your artwork with your dining set.
- Go for pieces that match well with dining ware, china, and pieces that speak to you specifically.
Here is a piece that will be a part of the preview event, a Franco Lapini Silverplate Lobster Covered Platter. This would sit well on a china cabinet or buffet style furniture in your dining room.
3. Kitchen:
- Add a pop of color or a series of small, themed artworks.
- Choose art that complements your kitchen’s color scheme.
- A gallery wall of family photos, still life paintings of fruit and florals always brighten up a kitchen space.
Another curated find that will be at the preview event, this piece is a porcelain Rosenthal Tile Plaque by Victor Vasarely, leader of the Op Art movement of 1960’s. He historically used disorientating effects in his artwork to create seemingly impossible images to the human eye, including pieces like these tiles. This would make a great addition to a smaller wall space in a nook in a kitchen, or in a bathroom that needs an extra pop of color.
5. Bedrooms:
- Express your personal style with art that resonates with you, whether its nature photography you took yourself, wedding portraits, etc.
- Coordinate art with your bedding and furnishings.
- Place over and adjacent to the bed in blank spaces to fill large open wall spaces.
6. Outdoor Spaces:
- Seek larger pieces like vases, driftwood, and other statement pieces that blend with furniture.
- Select weather-resistant art or sculptures, including nature-esque textures like wood, stone, etc.
- Serene portraits, abstract art, and solid decor pieces that sit on surfaces elevate your outdoor space.
This piece is a vintage David Hockney poster print, he was a very important contributor to the pop art move in the 1960’s. Large poster prints like this can add a dramatic statement to any space, especially one in need of some color. This piece would add the perfect amount of flair to a basement, craft room, or a large hallway space.
We hope to see you at our Design, Wine, and Fine art event this coming Thursday, October 5th 5:30-8. With a tasteful collection of varied art pieces and mediums, wine, and catered snacks from local restaurants, we are sure to have a fun filled evening.
