NKBA Award-Winning Contemporary Chicago Kitchen Design
An antique Moroccan door purchased on a trip to Marrakesh provided inspiration for a Lincoln Park kitchen combining modern convenience with international flair. The motif then inspired a custom-designed Moorish arch and graphic tile backsplash to frame the range alcove.
Clean design helps disguise the nuts-and-bolts of this working kitchen: Tall cabinets resting on the countertops conceal hidden outlets where kitchen appliances can be plugged in, and hidden niches in the range alcove are a home for frequently used spices. Hand-etched glass door panels with antique silver gilt arc designs disguise the refrigerator and freezer–and spark fond memories of travel abroad.
