“Rustic” and “outdoorsy” are apt descriptions of this Oak Brook custom kitchen design and remodel, which was a collaboration between Gail Drury of Drury Design and Janie Petkus of Hinsdale-based Janie Petkus Interiors. The key to the rustic aesthetic is glass front cabinets doors with a grassy motif, a stone-and-glass backsplash, and cabinetry of rift sawn oak.
Changes to the room’s layout were minimal, focusing mostly on improved workflow and ventilation. Instead, the renovation concentrated on incorporating updated materials and finishes, such as new Grabill cabinetry with a custom two-tone stain finish with glazing.
The resulting kitchen transformation provides a soothing updated living space that flows from the kitchen to adjacent rooms.
