Old and new mix beautifully in this award-winning Hinsdale kitchen, creating a warm place to gather with a soft, traditional look. Its centerpiece is a glass-doored antique cabinet, which was taken apart and carefully reassembled on site. The vintage piece allows the homeowner, who has a passion for antiques, to display many of her unique finds.
Other antique elements incorporated into the design include ceiling beams crafted of reclaimed barn siding from a nearby farm and distressed white oak flooring. A soft, white color palette with marble countertops and subway tiles keeps the spotlight on the unique collections.
This kitchen won first place in the large kitchen category at the 2009 National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Design Visions competition.
