Rich tones and minimalist design make this Glen Ellyn kitchen redo a welcome addition to a 1930s Spanish Colonial-style home. Chief on the homeowners’ wish list: a versatile space equally adept at entertaining a crowd as hosting a simple meal for two. Professional-grade appliances and an oversized island were also important.
Designer Alicia Saso used materials including solid, wood-paneled doors, wide-plank hardwood flooring and period light fixtures to create a space in sync with the rest of the elegant home. Richly colored hickory cabinets atop the island countertop draw the eye as an elegant focal point.
